The Susan Ann Foundation Community Impact Program

Family Essentials & Emergency Support

Helping local families through difficult moments with practical, short-term assistance when significant hardship affects a child.

When Help Matters Most

Small support can make a meaningful difference.

A child's illness, a house fire, sudden financial hardship, displacement, or another unexpected family crisis can quickly create urgent needs. This program is designed to help families address essential short-term needs while they work toward stability.

๐Ÿ›’

Food & Household Essentials

Support may help with groceries, hygiene products, diapers, basic household necessities, and other immediate essentials.

๐Ÿš—

Transportation

Assistance may help with gas, parking, transportation services, or necessary travel connected to a child's care or essential needs.

๐Ÿ

Temporary Lodging

Short-term lodging assistance may be considered when a family is displaced by an emergency or must remain away from home because of a child's treatment or other serious circumstance.

Who We Hope to Help

Focused on children. Responsive to real family hardship.

Pediatric illness and hospitalization are important priorities, but assistance is not limited to medical situations. The Foundation may consider significant circumstances that affect a child's immediate well-being and a family's ability to meet essential needs.

โค๏ธ

Medical Hardship

Families navigating pediatric illness, hospitalization, treatment, travel, or related short-term burdens may request assistance.

๐Ÿ”ฅ

Emergency & Displacement

House fires, sudden displacement, and other serious emergencies can create immediate needs for food, lodging, transportation, and essentials.

๐Ÿคฒ

Unexpected Family Crisis

Sudden loss of income, transportation barriers, or another significant hardship affecting a child may be considered based on need and available funding.

How Assistance Works

A compassionate, accountable process.

Families may contact the Foundation directly or be referred by a trusted community partner. We aim to keep the process straightforward, collect only information reasonably needed to review the request, and protect family privacy.

Step 1

Request or Referral

A family or trusted community partner contacts the Foundation about a significant hardship involving a child.

Step 2

Review & Verify

The Foundation reviews the request and may obtain reasonable documentation or partner confirmation needed to understand the situation.

Step 3

Approve Support

Approved assistance is matched to an essential need based on the circumstances, program guidelines, and available funding.

Step 4

Provide Assistance

Whenever practical, support is provided through direct vendor payments, approved gift cards, purchased goods or services, or qualified partner organizations rather than unrestricted cash.

Community Referrals

Working with people who already know the family.

Trusted local partners can help identify families facing genuine hardship and connect them with the Foundation while allowing us to keep the program responsive and accountable.

๐Ÿซ

Schools & Community Partners

Schools, counselors, established nonprofits, churches, and community organizations may refer families experiencing significant need.

๐Ÿฅ

Hospitals & Social Workers

Medical and social-service professionals may help connect families facing pediatric treatment, travel, lodging, or other immediate burdens.

๐Ÿš’

Emergency Referrals

Fire departments and other trusted organizations may help identify families affected by fires, displacement, or other serious emergencies.

Our First Goal

Build a $25,000 Family Support Fund.

Our initial goal is to establish a $25,000 fund that can respond to essential family needs as they arise. Because every family's circumstances are different, assistance amounts will vary and all support is subject to program approval and available funding.
